Well, I'm back! I know I said 2008 was going to be the year of continuous 12 of 12 participation, but it wasn't. No more need be said.

2009 is a brand new year and I'm excited to have realized that today was the 12th! You see, I made the decision to start a new business adventure. I started making jewelry. It started with the thought that I could make bejeweled rear view mirror decorations and it transformed into bracelets, earrings and I even made a necklace last week. I will have more information on the website when I've had a chance to make more stock to post, but in the mean time I took pictures of Las Cosas Mas Bella (the cool name my friend Emily helped me come up with for said rear view mirror decorations) that I made for my Crusader friends as belated Christmas presents.

That being said, I present 12 of 12 VI - January.

This piece is accented with a 20mm bright white stone heart with a silver plated bail.

This piece is accented an approximately 28mm black felt heart and an 8mm fire-polished emerald round

A jewelry maker is nothing without her tools...

This bracelet is made with 8mm faceted cubes and 6mm jet black bicone beads

I made some non-matching earrings...non-matching as in the cubes are not the same color in each earring.

This piece is made with 8mm yellow and gold round beads and accented with an 8mm silver round spacer. I also made earrings to match.

It's time for another super edition of Chad Darnell's 12 of 12! The idea of course is to take 12 pictures of your day on the 12th day of the month. This month we delve into the exciting day that a Tuesday has produced. The good news (or bad, depending on how you look at it) is that we got snow last night...which created several opportunities for pictures!

8:18 a.m. The view from my back door.

9:05 a.m. Yeah, I should have been at work already. I'm not even to I-70 yet....it's the overpass in the background, if you see past the snow/freezing rain coming down.

9:56 a.m. See what driving in snow/freezing rain can do to a windshield. I'm only now just getting to my work exit.

9:59 a.m. At this point, I'm already an hour late for work, so I thought I'd treat myself to my newest addiction....a Skinny Vanilla Mocha latte from Starbucks. I only wish it were a drive thru edition, rather than inside the Giant Eagle. It was cold this morning! Brrrr!

11:40 a.m. Filling out my paperwork to participate in the 5 person relay marathon at The Last Chance for Boston marathon this Sunday.

1:21 p.m. Yeah, it's not looking any better out there...

1:54 p.m. The fabulous Samsung Sch-740u. My lifeline. Texting is a wonderful thing! Doh! I just saw that the time on my camera is about five minutes fast! The beautiful baby on my phone is my best friend Kelly's son Eli!

2:23 p.m. Checking out the draft version of this 12 of 12. I am clearly bored at work and rather than waiting until the last minute, I thought I'd do it at work. :)

3:14 p.m. My mid-afternoon snack. White chocolate raspberry non-fat yogurt! YUMMO!

The writer's strike is just about over! I say "just about" because the membership has to vote on whether to continue striking during the ratification process. Union members can be quite fickle and while this strike has gone on for longer than anyone had hoped, I won't believe the strike is over until the votes are counted. And even then, the agreement still has to be ratified. My experience with ratification and unions is that the members will do what the members will do, recommendations of the negotiating committee be damned. While my union membership is only 1800 people, the WGA's is considerably larger so who really knows what will happen.

Whatever the result, I hope the WGA is content with the deal it got. Happiness is often too much to ask, as it's impossible to make everyone happy.

I took this picture so I could take it Home Depot to try and fix it myself. Once I decided that I was not a plumber, I took a closer look at the picture for possible inclusion in my 366 photos project. The shot actually caught some water drops in mid-air. I wasn't trying to capture the drops.

Space is a funny thing. Some people need big space. Some people need loud space, while others need quiet space. What works for one, doesn't always work for someone else.

Today I met my friend Jacqui at the Northstar Cafe in the Short North to get our grading done. The food was good but it didn't make up for the lack of WiFi and the noise. It was so loud in there. I like a bit of white noise, but this was red noise.

I'll stick to my space at Panera. Free WiFi. Plenty of coffee to go around and it's quiet.

As I watched Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy, "Lay Your Hands on Me", the importance of writers became more clear. As Bailey broke down in Shepard's arms, I found myself crying. It was Allan Heinberg's words. His story. Don't get me wrong Chandra Wilson did an impeccable job acting out Heinberg's words, but it was his writing that created the emotion.

It is that storytelling that keeps us coming back for more. It is that storytelling that allows the producers to make money from advertising to the viewers who keep coming back for more stories.

The writers deserve their fair share.

Since the first theme of 366 photos is "Sparkle", I thought this picture was appropriate as it was taken on January 1, 2008, shortly after midnight.

My good friend Helen came upon this idea to take 366 photos in 2008. Several friends are also taking part, so I thought it might be nice to try and keep up.

Rules

1. Photos must be taken between 12:01am January 1st 2008 and 11:59pm December 31st 2008.
2. Photos must be your own, not taken from other people.
3. Photos to be posted in your Blog/Blurty/Photobucket (linked to), etc.
4. All images remain yours.
5. You don't have to take the photo themes in order, nor to take exactly one photo each day - many people work long hours or hours which mean few free daylight hours - you may find you cross off three themes in one day. Think of it as a photographic treasure hunt or quest.
6. All images must be original, not photoshopped - the point is to have fun and challenge yourself to improve photography, not how well you can correct your mistakes with manipulation (this one is reliant on people's honesty, but hey, I never PS).
7. No nudity, porn, or illegality!

Okay, so here is my recap of 2007. Although I didn't remember do it every month, I did manage to do six months and I've included two from September. Check out Chad's site for other years in review.

April - Music is a great thing...especially GOOD music.

June - The Circle of Friends 5K Run to benefit Children's Hospital.

July - Conducting training on our contract.

August - Fanueil Hall in Boston, MA.

September #1 - Evidence of Starbucks Yuppiedum! A nonfat, sugar free, no foam Vanilla Latte.

September #2 - A special photo for Christin on her birthday!

December - Our traditional visit to the graduating class of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy.

Okay, so I have been totally lax in completing Chad Darnell's fabulous idea...this month, I at least remembered to bring my camera. It is only 11 pictures...but it's better than none.

5:56 a.m. It's too freakin' early!

7:45ish Catching up with the world on Today!

8:10 a.m. The morning drive on Route 33!

8:32 a.m. Running a little late for my chiro appointment. Gotta love the e-stim therapy!

9:30 a.m. The breakfast of champions!

10:15 a.m. The underlying picture was actually taken last Friday at the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, NV. ;-)

1:15 p.m. Working on the brief that is due Friday.

2:00 p.m. One of my best friends, Jacqui, stopped by the office after her eye doctor appointment.

2:30 p.m. Arriving at the Academy for our cadet class presentation.

2:45 p.m. It's G Allen!

5:30 p.m. Picking up a couple of pizzas for my Wednesday night Business Law Class. It was the last one so I thought I'd treat them.

Writers on Strike

I fully support the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. It's not just about the writers. It strikes (no pun intended) at the very heart of the American work force. People deserved to be compensated fairly for work produced. The entire argument over "new media" is slapped in the face every time the networks put one of their shows on their site for viewing. DVD sales have made it possible for the words written to live in perpetuity.

It's what's fair.

Here it is! Another 12 of 12 courtesy of Chad Darnell. This month's was extra special as it my friend Christin's birthday today and I and a couple other friends thought of a special way to include her in our 12 of 12 this month!

4:25 a.m. It's too early for this!
5:25 a.m. Grabbing the gym bag to head out the door. I had a 7:30 a.m. meeting at my old law school, so I worked out at the downtown World's.
9:30 a.m. The agenda and some notes I jotted down during the meeting.
6:10 p.m. Driving through the ATM to deposit a couple of checks and make a teeny withdrawal :D
6:17 p.m. Kanye West's "Stronger" on XM's 20 on 20.
6:20 p.m. Driving past Bob McDorman Corvette World...or whatever it's called.
6:30 p.m. Arriving at the Store that Must Not Be Named to purchase Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy for $33! and a little something for the aforementioned Christin. ^_^
6:50 p.m. Started the car to find out that I am down to 10% oil life. Good thing I have the service scheduled for Monday!
7:00 p.m. Driving through Starbucks to get some caffeine. I've had a dull headache most of the afternoon and I thought it might have been due to a lack of caffeine. Only had a small cup at this morning's meeting.
7:15 p.m. If you look closely, you'll see a hot air balloon!
7:20 p.m. The aforementioned caffeine! A grande non-fat vanilla latte sub sugar free vanilla and add one pump sugar free caramel. Yes, I have become a Starbucks yuppie...
7:45 p.m. Settling down to watch TNT's "The Closer" with the fabulous Kyra Sedgwyck!

It's that time again.....Chad Darnell's 12 of 12! Today the bonus picture was "light." I didn't get it as a bonus picture, but I did get a picture reflecting "light." This is also my first multi-state (okay....two, but it's more than one!) 12 of 12. The first two pictures are in Columbus, Ohio and the rest are courtesy of Boston, MA!

5:45 a.m. - Loading up the car to catch a 7:45 a.m. flight to Boston Logan.

7:30 a.m. - My best friend Kelly and I at the gate!

10:00 a.m. - Our hotel for the next few days...Jurys. It's the old Boston P.D. headquarters!

12:30 p.m. - Shreve, Crump & Low. The name intrigued me.

12:45 p.m. - I tried to get a close up of the of the old Boston P.D. title

3:00 p.m. - Walking past Boston Common!

3:15 p.m. - Fanueil Hall in all its glory!

3:30 p.m. - Street performers. This guy was pretty acrobatic.

4:00 p.m. - Ye Old Union Oyster House. Thought we were going to eat lunch there. Yeah, not so much. We settled for the fake Cheers at Fanueil Hall. LOL

5:45 p.m. - Quizno's name of the day was "Kelly", which happens to be Kelly's name!

9:15 p.m. - Rustic Kitchen. The concierge recommended and what a good recommendation it was! Located next to the Radisson on Stuart Street, in case you're interested.

10:00 p.m. - Final picture and my "light" picture. It was a cool looking lamp. Picture taken at Kelly's suggestion.

7:20 a.m. -- Self shot :)

10:20 a.m. -- Hello beautiful! ** As it turns out, this month's bonus picture was supposed to revolve around the word "HOT" and as the case may be, Phil is the epitome of HOTness. LOL **

11:15 a.m. -- Training on the new contract

3:30 p.m. -- Obligatory picture with the most beautiful man on Earth.

4:15 p.m. -- Shot of my "new" computer monitor. New is in parenthesis as it's actually my boss's old one.

4:30 p.m. -- Leaving the office.

5:00 p.m. -- Driving to class.

5:15 p.m. -- I wanted a honey mustard grilled chicken snack wrap. They gave me the chipotle wrap. Holy hotness Batman and threw half of it away...couldn't take it.

5:30 p.m. -- Franklin University's NE campus where I am teaching my first face to face class.

5:35 p.m. -- Had to take the boots off. Standing all day was painful.

9:15 p.m. -- Dinner of champions -- Kraft Fat Free American Cheese on a hamburger bun.
