It's also lousy for letting people comment while signed in though....

Really? I did notice that I can't comment on a blog that doesn't use the Beta version.
I've tried commenting (while logged in) on two Blog Betas, and all three times (I tried twice withthe one Blog), it said "unable to process your request", and the only way to comment was anonymously - which is liable to make me forget to put my name at the bottom.

Hmmm...it's letting me comment through my Blogger account. But maybe that's because I'm a Beta user. It might not let you post when commenting to a non-Beta account?
